I uncovered some ant eggs when I was moving the bird bath. The ants were then very busy getting the eggs underground.
The crows are getting feisty, but this buzzard had finally had enough.
This just got made picture of the day by Springwatch!
Walking past our local Macdonald’s I heard some chicks calling, looking up I discovered another blue tit nest
The Blue Tits then brought in a lot of food to the chicks. I assume it is nice and warm over night and it is well off the ground, safe from predators.
It’s quite a strange sight to see a Blue Tit sticking out of a street light
In the space of 5 minutes there were about 7 visits. There are lots of trees nearby so a good supply of food. Didn’t see them taking in any Big Macs though!
The Blue Tits fledged today. A fuller account will follow when I’ve sorted all the photos.
Last weekend I planted up some baskets for strawberries. The birds of made full use of the liner and started stripping it for nesting materials!
The last day or two the female has been wing fluttering, like when she is begging for food. The male has been nearby but she normally has food in her beak at the time. Is she cementing the bond, using it as a distraction technique or does she want to breed again?
