The Blue tit has been busy getting the nesting material that we put out
Another quiet week.
The Chiffchaffs are singing away and finally the Blue Tits have started bringing in nesting material. They did so on the 1st of April. They then proceeded to take it all back out again! She then started to leave some in but was very fussy what moss stayed and what was thrown out.
The goldfinches and siskins seemed to have moved on, there are only 4 of each left. Still managed some nice piccies though, of siskins, I can’t get goldfinches to look right.
The frog spawn in the pond has really started to develop now, you can see the tadpoles taking shape.
The Blue Tits have been in and out of the nest boxes all week, but still no nesting material.
On our walk by the river (still only managing one a week, might try another small one mid week) we had good views of a treecreeper, dippers and loads of mallards. The chiffchaffs are back in force now, at least 6 but couldn’t nail a photo. The floor of the wood is full of white flowers that have come up since last week. The bluebells are starting to grow and are looking like they will give an amazing show when they flower. Wrens, song thrushes, robins, dunnocks and blackbirds are all singing. Worryingly I haven’t seen the kingfisher this year.
We did have a garden 1st fly over, 2 Canada Geese.
