The wood mouse made an appearance on hedgehog cam tonight
The Blue tit has been busy getting the nesting material that we put out
1st speckled wood of the year. Also a couple of Orange Tips but they wouldn’t stay still long enough to photograph.
The woods behind us have their first bluebells. There is a little fly on this one
This is a taken off the camera from last night, of the hedgehog eating in the box.
Another quiet week.
The Chiffchaffs are singing away and finally the Blue Tits have started bringing in nesting material. They did so on the 1st of April. They then proceeded to take it all back out again! She then started to leave some in but was very fussy what moss stayed and what was thrown out.

The blue tit has finally started bringing in nesting material. At last. 5 days earlier than last year.
Nice walk by river today, only short as I am still tired. Loads of singing Dunnocks, Chiffchaffs, Blackcaps and a drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker.

What?, originally uploaded by TheLilacGrove.
Not sure this Dunnock was too happy with me taking pictures of him!
The goldfinches and siskins seemed to have moved on, there are only 4 of each left. Still managed some nice piccies though, of siskins, I can’t get goldfinches to look right.
The frog spawn in the pond has really started to develop now, you can see the tadpoles taking shape.
The Blue Tits have been in and out of the nest boxes all week, but still no nesting material.
On our walk by the river (still only managing one a week, might try another small one mid week) we had good views of a treecreeper, dippers and loads of mallards. The chiffchaffs are back in force now, at least 6 but couldn’t nail a photo. The floor of the wood is full of white flowers that have come up since last week. The bluebells are starting to grow and are looking like they will give an amazing show when they flower. Wrens, song thrushes, robins, dunnocks and blackbirds are all singing. Worryingly I haven’t seen the kingfisher this year.
We did have a garden 1st fly over, 2 Canada Geese.
